About

I am a computer programmer & Internet researcher interested in media and the spread of information and ideas online. I am currently building VHX.tv, a video sharing community. I’m also a founding member of FAT Lab, an open-source research & development group.

In 2010 I was a developer for Star Wars Uncut, a crowdsourced recreation of Star Wars that won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Interactive Media. In 2008 I co-created Know Your Meme a video series & Internet meme database that was selected as one of TIME Magazine’s Top 50 websites of 2009. In 2007 and 2008 I taught the Internet Famous Class at Parsons in NYC, in which students grades depended on their online popularity.

I am a proud contributor to open-source software: @jamiew on GitHub.

Back in 1998-2000 I was co-founder BeNews, one of the leading news websites about the Be Operating System. I have an archive of benews.com and some of my old BeOS software in /beos
