Got a shiny new iPhone and frustrated by how difficult Apple makes it to put high-res photos, PDFs, and other files on it? Download Filemark Maker, a tiny app that makes it easy to generate bookmarks with the data stored inside (known as DataURLs).

Drop a file on the app, bookmark the generated link, sync with your iPhone, and enjoy offline files, like subway maps and eBooks.

Hacked together at Jelly this week in conjunction with Josh and Dave from Insanely Great Tees (which are, in fact, pretty insanely great)

  1. Every time I try to use a bookmark generated by Filemark Maker, my iPhone says: “Safari can’t open the page because it is a local file.”

  2. @swamijim: right click and bookmark the link on the page and not the actual page itself.

    URL should start with ‘data:’, not ‘file://’
