MUSIC BLACKHOLE

The original passive music backup service

Stored 79 music collections totaling 2,516 GB

2008/Sep/19: Uncrackable upgrades to Apple's DAAP encryption scheme sidelined this project. The Blackhole is no longer operational.

What it was

Music Blackhole was a peer-to-peer music sharing and backup network. Users would connect using a custom app called "wormhole.app" and share their iTunes libraries over DAAP (Digital Audio Access Protocol).

Connect & share your music library. Stream anywhere.

The service also featured "Radiation Radio" - a streaming radio station that would randomly play tracks from connected libraries.
