Add-Art is out! Replace online ads with art

Add-art in action!

Add-Art is a new Firefox extension which replaces online advertising with art. A new show is released every 2 weeks.

Our first show are Hiroshige prints selected by the Asian art curators at the Brooklyn Museum, here’s a sample:

If you like the project please show some support! Vote for us on Digg or Reddit, or consider volunteering to curate a show.

The code-inclined should check out the project page on dev.eyebeam.org and sign up for the mailing list. The team is really great and we’re looking forward to future development!

My Firefox Extensions (web hacker edition)

Pushing the meme along with Oliver Thylmann and following my last extension-tagged post is my sizable Firefox Add-ons list!

  • Web Developer — essential; I <3 realtime CSS editing
  • Firebug — essential; the only way to debug; also see FlashBug for watching your traces() and FirePHP for eliminating error_log()‘s
  • Mouse Gestures — Hold middle click and motion the mouse right to go back, left to go forward, down & left/right to switch tabs, etc. ( also check out the QuickSilver mouse gestures module)
  • MeasureIt — get screen distances
  • ColorZilla — get screen colors
  • Live HTTP Headers — debug all forms/requests, great for reverse engineering
  • tabinta — essential for wiki editing!
  • Greasemonkey — hack the gibson! The only way one can even look at MySpace: script link
  • RealCosts — adds environmental costs to many eCommerce sites (from Michael Mandiberg at Eyebeam)
  • Torbutton — instant anonymization (FoxyProxy is also good for those who switch proxies a lot)
  • Adblock Plus — always funny to see fullpage ads on Salon et al that are just blank pages saying “skip this ad”.
  • and of course, del.icio.us bookmarks

Thanks to Oli I installed Live PageRank — I’ve also used SearchStatus which does Alexa too.

  • Default Firefox theme :)
