I'm a technologist & Internet culture researcher studying the spread of information and ideas online. I co-created the Know Your Meme video series & Internet meme database, selected as one of TIME Magazine's Top 50 websites of 2009. I'm also a founding member of the Free Art & Technology Lab (FAT), an open-source research & development group.
In 2007 and 2008 I taught the Internet Famous Class at Parsons, where your grade depends on your online popularity.

I’ll be moderating a panel at the upcoming ROFLCON NYC event on Saturday Jan. 24th about Firefox art projects with fellow F.A.T. Lab members Steve Lambert (Add-Art and NYTimes Special Edition) and Tobias Leingruber (China Channel and Pirates of the Amazon).
We’ll also be talking about ArtZilla, our new repository for Firefox add-on projects usually denied from listing on the addons.mozilla.org universe for being “useless art.”
New York City ROFLThing
When: January 24th, 2009
Where: Santos Party House (96 Lafayette Street, Manhattan, NY)
Featuring Alexis Ohanian (Reddit), Charlie Todd (Improv Everywhere), the creator of Comic Sans, the founder of 4chan, Bre Pettis and a host of others to be announced.
