Maurice Fulton’s ten-hour Green Room bill on Saturday is the weekend’s best room-to-DJ match; Aurora Halal at H0L0 is the Friday sleeper with the deepest Jamie fit.
TL;DR
- 🌞 Daytime: Mister Sunday Long Weekend, 3–9pm Sunday, with Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin.
- 🗓️ Thursday: Public Records has an 8pm disco-live option; Nowadays has the later Octo Octa / Faited bill.
- 🌙 Friday night: Aurora Halal at H0L0; cosmic-disco alternative at Green Room.
- 🌙 Saturday night: Maurice Fulton at Green Room, or Nowadays Animalia Nonstop if you want the full overnight-to-daytime format.
- ☀️ Sunday: Mister Sunday first; Public Records’ Nursery is the second daylight plan.
🗓️ Thursday, October 8
Public Records — Hearts & Diamonds: Midnight Magic live
At 8pm, Brooklyn’s Midnight Magic brings its soul/funk/disco/post-disco band setup to the Sound Room, with the local Three of Hearts selectors (including Andi). That is a rare dance-shaped live show at a good sound venue and a much saner start than a midnight call time. DICE listing; I couldn’t verify a current price in the calendar.
Later option: Nowadays — Octo Octa, Faited + Eva Loveless. The trio is a safer straight-to-the-floor bet if the evening turns into a late one; doors are around 9pm and RA lists tickets from $20. Event page.
🏆 Friday, October 9
H0L0 — ReSolute with Aurora Halal
Aurora Halal is the right kind of intense: hypnotic, psychedelic, rhythm-forward techno, in a compact room rather than a festival-scale production. ReSolute’s H0L0 session is listed 10pm–6am, tickets from about $20. H0L0 calendar has the direct listing; check there for the live ticket link.
🆗 Other Friday options
- Green Room — Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy + Que Sakamoto — Golden Record and Vin.yl’s 10pm–8am session ($20); Cosmic disco, house and deep selector energy in a 300-cap, no-phone room. This is the best alternative if you want records and dancers over a headline set. RA tickets.
- Nowadays — DjRUM all night — the most obvious bass-forward pick: UK-rooted broken beat, jungle and 140 territory, with the extended set format the material deserves. Reduced-price RSVP applies early; choose this over H0L0 if the S-tier room and long set outweigh the bigger draw.
🏆 Saturday, October 10
Green Room — Maurice Fulton x Golden Record / Third Floor Sounds
Maurice Fulton anchors a ten-hour run from 10pm to 8am, joined by TEE EM DEE and Miss Gypsy, among the local selectors. Fulton’s long, idiosyncratic house/disco lineage belongs in this small, music-first room; tickets start around $20. RA event.
🆗 Other Saturday options
- Nowadays — Animalia Nonstop: 10pm Saturday to 3pm Sunday, with Fred P, Kia, Louis Marlo live, Mia Koden, Moopie and Simisea. It’s a bassy, long-form house/club itinerary rather than a single-headliner night; tickets are tiered by arrival time (from about $30). RA event.
- Gabriela — Mike Simonetti all night — the small-room, synthy house/disco alternative if you want to stay in Williamsburg.
🌞 Daytime / early-start picks
The best easy Sunday plan is Mister Sunday Long Weekend Edition at Nowadays, 3–9pm: Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, no-phone community dancefloor, daylight hours. Public Records’ Nursery is the other good option: Frank & Tony with Roman Flügel, 3–9pm, from $21.63. Both give you an actual Sunday plan without betting on a late night.
❌ What to skip (and why)
- SILO — Sullivan King: metal-edged commercial bass/EDM is the wrong crowd and sound for this week’s good small-room choices.
- Refuge’s Oct 9 all-nighter is a 10pm–9am, heavier-techno marathon (Colin Benders, Lewis Fautzi and others). Not an automatic genre disqualifier, just less tailored than Aurora Halal in H0L0.
- Tiki Disco in the Ruins on Sunday is not confirmed. A third-party event listing conflicts with Knockdown’s official calendar, which does not show it for Oct 11; don’t plan around it.

Weekend of October 16–18
- Free Public Service season-closing dance party, Governors Island (Sat 17) — Toribio and Mickey Perez on Karlala Soundsystem; an outdoor, community-first daytime lead worth ferrying for. Official season announcement.
- Nowadays Focus: Disco (Fri 16) — Inés, Lovie and Mark Grusane, tickets from $20. Also on Sunday at 6pm, H0L0 has Anané and Louie Vega for The Ritual.
Weekend of October 23–25
- Mister Sunday with Floating Points + Justin Carter (Sun 25, 3–9pm) — a rare daytime extended-session booking that is worth buying ahead rather than waiting for the door. Check the Nowadays calendar for tickets.
Weekend of October 30–November 1
- Nowadays Halloween Nonstop (Fri 30–Sun 1) — a 40-hour, $30+ spread with DJ Stingray 313, Convextion live, Rene Wise, Juliana Huxtable and more. The breadth is the point: Detroit electro, live dub techno, queer NYC and patient techno share the weekend. RA tickets.
- Good Room — Synthicide Halloween (Sat 31) is the shorter dark-synth option: Terence Fixmer with Andi and local selectors. RA event.
🎵 Playlist
Dope NYC Dance Parties was not refreshed: Spotify playlist retrieval failed authentication, so I left the existing playlist untouched rather than clear it blind.
My verdict
- Thursday: Public Records early if the live disco set appeals; Nowadays if you want a club night.
- Friday: Aurora Halal at H0L0; pick Green Room for cosmic records or DjRUM for the long bass set.
- Saturday: Maurice Fulton at Green Room, without overthinking it.
- Sunday: Mister Sunday, 3–9pm. The Nursery is the backup.
