Star Wars Uncut (2010) - a crowdsourced fan remake of the original Star Wars movie.
We chopped the original film into 473 fifteen-second scenes and invited the Internet to recreate them however they wanted - animation, live action, toys, cardboard, whatever. Then we stitched all the submissions back together into a complete film.
The project was created by Casey Pugh, my co-founder at VHX. I helped build the platform and worked on the technical side.
Emmy Award
In 2010, Star Wars Uncut won a Primetime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Interactive Media.” It was the first user-generated content project to win an Emmy.
